Green Kids, Bright Futures
My book focuses on themes of environmentalism and sustainability in a fun and educational way, featuring activities and colorful displays of information. With the prevalence of climate change creating a growing interest in protecting our world, it is more important than ever to include children in these discussions. My goal as an artist is to create beautiful art that encourages positive action and makes a difference in improving the state of our planet. The purpose of this book is to provide a supplemental learning tool, inside and outside the classroom, to increase kids’ interest in these topics and encourage hands-on experiences. It can serve as a great addition to the established U.S. public school standards regarding environmentalism.
The book is organized by topic with facts, illustrations, coloring pages, and activity cards for each section. The activity cards contain crafts or experiments with blank illustrations for coloring on the back. These cards can be cut out and saved for ease of use and added interaction. The content is intended for a range of ages and the activity cards are split into lower and upper elementary levels to better align with different skill levels to make the content more accessible.
Influences for this book came from other environmental children’s book creators like Christiane Engel, and activist artists such as Nils Norman who have created many public displays and products for bringing awareness to climate change impacts and assist in improving the state of the planet. I hope that this book can be a resource for children, teachers, and parents to learn how to live more sustainably and provide a quality foundation for future generations to have more compassion and care for our planet.
